Week of Giving Breaks Records

The IICF Week of Giving numbers are in and we are blown away! Thanks to your efforts, Week of Giving 2014 shattered records across the board. Insurance industry volunteers came out in force with 5,312 volunteers from 87 cities across 21 states to provide more than 14,500 hours of service to community nonprofits across the United States.

Volunteers participated in 354 projects throughout this year's Week of Giving, which ran from October 11 to 18. Projects covered a broad range of service areas including youth and children services, health and disease issues, women's issues, elderly care, food service and donation, and disaster preparedness.

The IICF Early Literacy Initiative was also out in full force during the Week of Giving. Some famous Sesame Street friends even got in on the fun. Elmo and Cookie Monster helped to promote literacy at local public libraries in New York, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles. Over five thousand children and families participated in literacy themed crafts, storytime sessions, and family fun across the country.

"The Week of Giving is a cornerstone of the insurance industry's commitment to community, and we were thrilled to be joined by record-breaking numbers of organizations and volunteers this year," said Bill Ross, CEO of the IICF. "The insurance industry works hard to help those in need year-round, and the annual growth and success of the Week of Giving is a testament to that aim."

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of Week of Giving. Thank you for volunteering, donating, and making a difference. Your efforts have truly helped communities and enriched lives across the country!

Over 1,000 Expected for the Northeast Division Annual Benefit Dinner

The Northeast Division is preparing for another outstanding Annual Benefit Dinner event. Over 1,000 insurance industry professionals from over 170 companies are expected to attend the 8th annual event.

"This dinner is a wonderful opportunity for the industry to enjoy a festive evening of networking and entertainment while supporting the wide variety of charitable causes the IICF has become so well known for," commented Hank Watkins, President of Lloyd's North America and chair of the IICF dinner committee.

The dinner's proceeds will be utilized by the IICF's Northeast Division to fund its community grants program. A full list of nonprofits who will be receiving grants will be announced at the dinner.

A highlight of the evening will be the IICF's recognition of Munich Re's philanthropic leadership with the 2014 IICF "Double I" Award– for Influence in the industry and Impact in the community. The award will be accepted by Munich Re America President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony Kuczinski.
